Police have issued speeding fines in Leiston and Saxmundham after officers responded to growing concerns from local residents about dangerous driving in the area.
Officers Pc 5186 and Pc 1291 from the RIT5 team have been carrying out speed enforcement patrols over the past few days as part of a targeted operation.
Two Traffic Offence Reports (TORS) were issued during the operation—one to a driver caught travelling at 43mph in a 30mph zone, and another to a motorist clocked at a shocking 55mph in the same speed-restricted area.
A police spokesperson said:
“Due to recent complaints from members of the community, Pc 5186 and Pc 1291 from RIT5 were out over the last few days conducting speed enforcement in Leiston and Saxmundham. Enforcement will continue throughout the year across our area.”
The force has reiterated its commitment to road safety and pledged ongoing enforcement action in problem areas identified by residents.
Local authorities have welcomed the initiative, with many residents praising the increased police visibility and swift action in addressing a long-standing concern.
Drivers are urged to observe speed limits and drive responsibly, as similar operations are expected to continue throughout the year in an effort to reduce road risk and improve community safety.
