Police Scotland are urgently seeking information from the public following a serious assault that took place on Saturday, January 13, 2024, in Clydebank. At approximately 4:50pm, a 35-year-old man was walking on Hume Street near the junction of Belmont Street when he was confronted by three assailants armed with a bladed weapon.
The attackers swiftly fled the scene in the direction of Belmont Street and Argyll Road, leaving the victim with severe injuries. The victim was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.
Detective Constable Ross Gemmell, leading the investigation, stated, “At this time, we believe the injured man was specifically targeted, however, we have yet to establish a motive as to why that was the case.” Police have been meticulously reviewing CCTV footage and conducting local inquiries since the incident occurred.
The assailants are described as two individuals dressed in black clothing with snoods covering their faces, and a third person in a light blue top and light blue shorts.
Authorities are now urging anyone who witnessed the assault or possesses information that could aid the investigation to come forward. Detective Constable Ross Gemmell emphasized the significance of community cooperation, stating, “Officers have been checking CCTV and making local enquiries since the attack but are appealing to anyone who may have seen the assault or has any information that may assist with their enquiries to get in touch.”
