Yellow weather warning issued for the South Coast

Hampshire and the Isle of Wight are expected to be hit by high winds between 3am and 6pm tomorrow. The Met Office has issued an amber weather warning for ‪#‎Portsmouth‬, ‪#‎Southampton‬ and the ‪#‎IsleofWight‬. A yellow warning is in place for areas inland.

Winds are expected to reach 60-70mph and 80mph in coastal areas. The strongest winds are expected between 7am and 3pm. This is likely to lead to difficult driving conditions and travel service disruption over the morning rush hour, fallen trees and minor structural damage. Monday mornings are usually busy on the roads anyway so it may be wise to leave a little extra time tomorrow or check travel updates before making your journey. This evening it is advisable to secure loose outdoor items such as garden furniture or ladders; and bring in as many items as possible that are lying around outside.
