A child has been injured following a hit-and-run collision involving a quad bike in a residential street in Wickford, prompting an urgent police appeal for witnesses and information.
The incident occurred shortly after 3:00 PM on Saturday, when Essex Police were called to Aydon Close after reports of a collision between a red quad bike and a child riding a scooter on the pavement.
What Happened in Aydon Close?
According to police, the quad bike, which had a distinctive black cage on the front, is believed to have entered Aydon Close from a nearby field before striking the child. Witnesses said the vehicle briefly stopped at the scene before speeding away toward Wickford town centre.
The young victim sustained a leg injury and was taken to hospital for treatment. The exact condition of the child has not yet been disclosed, but the incident has left local residents alarmed and calling for action on the use of off-road vehicles in residential areas.
