Default Heading H1
A familiar name is returning to Walford as Oscar Branning, son of Max Branning (Jake Wood) and Tanya Cross (Jo Joyner), makes a dramatic comeback to EastEnders — now portrayed by Pierre Moullier.
The character, who was last seen in 2017, is now 17 years old and will make his reappearance next month in what show bosses are calling a “game-changing” storyline. Producers have teased that his arrival will send shockwaves through the Branning family — especially for sister Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa).
New Face, New Drama
Pierre Moullier becomes the fourth actor to play Oscar Branning, following Gabriel Miller-Williams, Neo Hall, and Charlee Hall. Speaking on his casting, Moullier said:
“It’s pretty surreal to join EastEnders – it keeps hitting me that I’m actually on Albert Square.
When I found out I was joining the Brannings, it was so exciting as they are such an iconic family, and I love that there are so many skeletons in the closet.
Oscar is so much fun to play, and the audience should be prepared for the unexpected as he’s a complex guy.”
Oscar’s return will be triggered by a mysterious phone call to Lauren, with producers promising the twist will “turn her life upside down”.
Branning Family Reunion?
The comeback comes amid strong rumours of Jake Wood’s return as Max Branning, with multiple reports suggesting he’ll be back in Walford later this year. Max was last seen on the Square in 2021, following a 15-year tenure.
Executive Producer Teases “Plenty of Drama”
New EastEnders executive producer Ben Wadey said:
“I’m very excited to bring Oscar Branning back to Walford and introduce viewers to him now that he’s all grown up.
Oscar is very much a Branning, which means there’s going to be plenty of drama in store this summer.
We’re delighted to welcome Pierre as he takes on the role and can’t wait for viewers to see him bring Oscar to life.”
When Was Oscar Last Seen?
Oscar’s last major appearance was in 2017, when he visited his father Max on Father’s Day before returning to live with his mother Tanya in Exeter. Now, he’s back — older, edgier, and potentially harbouring secrets of his own.
What’s Next for the Brannings?
With Lauren already facing personal turmoil, and Max’s return looming, Oscar’s reappearance is poised to reignite some long-dormant family tensions. Whether he’s returning with good intentions or not remains to be seen — but one thing is certain: this summer in Walford won’t be quiet.
EastEnders airs weeknights on BBC One and is available to stream on BBC iPlayer.
