Emergency services launched a large-scale search operation late Thursday evening following reports that a person may have fallen into the water at Erith Pier, near Wharfside Close, London.

The incident triggered a multi-agency response, involving the London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police, and London Ambulance Service, as crews worked tirelessly to locate the individual.

Timeline of Events
It is understood, according to a police source, that a man on the pier had noticed another man nearby but later left to charge his phone at home.

Upon returning, he believed the man he had seen earlier might have fallen into the water, prompting the call to emergency services.

The response began just before midnight, with the London Fire Brigade’s fire boat and a police launch deployed to search the water. Firefighters and police officers also conducted searches along the shoreline.

Search Stood Down
Despite an exhaustive effort to locate the individual, no person was found, and the operation was stood down after a full sweep of the area yielded no results.

Authorities have not yet confirmed whether the report was a false alarm or if further investigations will continue.
No Missing Person Reports
As of now, no missing person reports related to the incident have been received.

The Source for Metropolitan Police stated that they are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the report and have urged the public to come forward with any information.
