Metropolitan Police Appeal for Witnesses Following Brutal Stabbing in Plaistow

The Metropolitan Police have issued an urgent appeal for witnesses and information regarding a brutal stabbing that occurred during an attempted robbery in Plaistow. The harrowing incident unfolded at approximately 6.25pm on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, when a young man in his 20s fell victim to a violent attack by three males on Western Road, E13.

The victim displayed remarkable courage as he managed to evade one of the assailants who demanded his phone. However, his escape was short-lived as he was intercepted on Queens Road, at the junction with Rochester Avenue. It was at this point that the situation escalated, culminating in the suspects launching a violent assault that left the victim with five stab wounds.

Following the vicious attack, the injured man managed to stagger to Green Street, E13, where he ultimately collapsed. In a swift response, both officers and the London Ambulance Service administered immediate first aid before urgently conveying him to the hospital. Thankfully, due to their prompt actions, the victim has since been discharged following medical treatment.

Detective Constable Oliver Beech is leading the investigation and has called upon the public for their assistance. DC Beech emphasized the importance of gathering any information or dash-cam footage from individuals who were in the area during the incident. He stated, “This was a violent attack on a man who was walking in the street. Our enquiries have established that the three suspects may have been hanging around Western Avenue for around 30 minutes before this incident. Did you see them?”

DC Beech further appealed to witnesses who may have observed the suspects fleeing towards Queens Market after the attack, which occurred at approximately 18:30. He urged anyone with knowledge or details related to the incident to promptly contact the authorities.

Individuals possessing relevant information are encouraged to call 101 or reach out via ‘X’ @MetCC, quoting CAD 5865/20Dec23. Additionally, information can be provided anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111. The Metropolitan Police are counting on the cooperation of the community to assist in bringing the perpetrators of this violent crime to justice.
