Missing Woman Found Dead in Submerged Car, Investigation Underway

A tragic end to a search operation has seen the body of 50-year-old Penny from Lincolnshire discovered in a car submerged in the River Trent. Penny was last seen in the East Ferry area on January 14, sparking a significant police search effort.

Search and Discovery

Lincolnshire Police deployed drones, vehicle patrols, and officers on foot in an extensive search for Penny. Tracks near the riverbank led investigators to the River Trent, just north of East Ferry, where a red Audi TT was recovered from the water on January 17. Inside, officers discovered Penny’s body.

A spokesperson for Lincolnshire Police said:

“We are saddened to report that in the search for missing Penny, she has been found deceased. Our thoughts are with her family during this incredibly difficult time.”

Ongoing Investigation

Police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to the vehicle entering the water. The force has urged the public to refrain from speculation out of respect for Penny’s grieving family.

“We ask that people do not speculate, and remember that her loved ones could be distressed by rumours and speculation,” the police added.

Support for the Family

Penny’s family has been informed of her death and is being supported by specialist officers. They have requested privacy as they process the loss.

This tragedy serves as a reminder of the importance of allowing police investigations to unfold without interference or speculation.

Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is urged to contact Lincolnshire Police via 101.
