Urgent Appeal: Witnesses Sought After Workmen Threatened in Gloucester

Authorities are appealing for witnesses following a disturbing incident involving workmen late last night. The incident occurred at approximately 11.20pm on Monday, March 4, near the junction of Barnwood Road and North Upton Lane in Hucclecote, Gloucester.

A group of workmen, who were stationed at a road closure on Barnwood Road, encountered a man driving a Smart Car. When informed that he could not proceed due to the road closure, the man reportedly became abusive toward the workmen before abruptly leaving the scene.

However, the situation escalated further. Shortly afterward, a convoy of cars arrived, carrying a group of men dressed in tracksuits and brandishing bats. These individuals proceeded to threaten violence against the workmen and subjected them to racist abuse.

Authorities suspect that this incident may be connected to a recent report of anti-social driving in the area. As part of their investigation, police are urging anyone who witnessed the altercation or possesses relevant dash-cam footage to come forward.

The vehicles involved in the incident include:

  1. White Volkswagen Caddy
  2. Silver Volkswagen Golf
  3. Silver Audi

Detective Inspector Emma Reynolds from Gloucestershire Constabulary emphasised the importance of community cooperation: “We need the public’s assistance in identifying those responsible. If you were in the vicinity at the time or have any information, please reach out to us.”

Witnesses or individuals with relevant information can contact Gloucestershire Constabulary via their website, quoting incident number 489 of March 4.
