Chaos struck the Whitecliffs Café in Saltdean late Tuesday night when vandals smashed their windows. The attack happened around 10:45pm on 24 March 2026.
Windows Smashed with a Hammer or a Metal Object
Thugs reportedly targeted the café’s windows with a hammer or similar metal object, hitting spots weakened by rust stains. The café’s staff shared their frustration on social media, saying: “We’re very disappointed that all our recent positive progress has been tarnished by thugs. We’re not in a financial position right now to replace windows, so we’ve made the area safe.”
Staff Turn Vandalism Into Silver Lining
Despite the damage, the team kept spirits high. They even found humour in the chaos, introducing a new ‘staff member’—Stephanie Spider—who’s apparently taken up residence in the café.
“We won’t let bullies dampen our success,” said the café.
No arrests have been made yet. Locals will be hoping for a quick catch and the windows’ swift repair.
