A violent man knifed his girlfriend 27 times after breaking into her Liverpool flat. Michael Ormandy, 34, has been found guilty of murder at Liverpool Crown Court.
Brutal Attack in Huyton
Ormandy, a drug dealer and ex-cage fighter from Litherland, launched the savage attack last April. He was even wearing a bulletproof vest when he struck 32-year-old Rebekah Campbell.
Phone records captured a chilling moment when Rebekah pleaded, “Go away, Mick,” before the call went dead. CCTV footage showed Ormandy leaving while Rebekah staggered outside, bleeding and telling neighbours, “My fella stabbed me,” before collapsing.
History of Abuse and Threats
Rebekah died in hospital hours later despite police efforts. The court heard this wasn't a one-off — Ormandy had a history of domestic violence. Just days earlier, he punched Rebekah during a night out, leaving her with a black eye.
After the stabbing, Ormandy called the police, threatening to "blow everyone up" with a fake suicide vest.
Self-Defence Claim Fails
Ormandy insisted he acted in self-defence. But the post-mortem revealed Rebekah suffered 18 stab wounds and nine slashes — many defensive injuries indicating a brutal assault, not a fight back.
He is due to be sentenced on Thursday, 16 October.
