Kent Police have received a custody extension for a 24-year-old suspect following a serious assault that left a soldier in his 40s with stab wounds. The incident occurred at Sally Port Gardens in Gillingham around 5:55 PM on Tuesday, July 23, 2024.
Authorities responded to reports of the assault and discovered the victim, a soldier, suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was promptly transported to a hospital, where he is currently listed in serious but stable condition.
The suspect, a local man, reportedly fled the scene on a motorcycle but was apprehended shortly after at 6:30 PM in Mooring Road, Rochester. Following his arrest, he has been in police custody for initial questioning.

Given the severity of the incident and the need for thorough investigation, detectives sought and were granted an extension to keep the suspect detained beyond the standard 24-hour period.
