A man has been arrested on suspicion of GBH after a brutal fight in Hove left two men seriously injured and requiring hospital treatment.

Emergency services rushed to Downland Drive in West Blatchington, Hove, shortly after 2.20pm on Thursday, 8 May, following reports of a violent altercation between two men. Eyewitnesses on social media claimed one of the men may have been stabbed.

Sussex Police confirmed that a 30-year-old man from Hove has been arrested on suspicion of assault causing grievous bodily harm (GBH). He remains in hospital receiving treatment for his own injuries.

A second man, believed to be in his late 30s and also from Hove, was taken to hospital with serious injuries following the incident.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said:

“Officers have made an arrest after responding to reports of an altercation in Downland Drive, Hove. A 30-year-old man has been arrested for GBH and is currently being treated in hospital.”

“A second man has also been taken to hospital. Inquiries are ongoing.”
