A man has died after being pulled from the water at Meon Shore, Titchfield. Officers from Hampshire Constabulary were called to the beach shortly before 5:30 PM on Tuesday following reports of a man being pulled from the water.
Emergency services, including Hill Head and Portsmouth Coastguard Rescue Teams, an inshore lifeboat from Calshot RNLI, and the HM Coastguard helicopter from Lee-on-Solent, responded to the incident alongside police and ambulance services. Despite their efforts, the man tragically died at the scene.
A spokesperson for the HM Coastguard confirmed their involvement: “Alerted at around 5:30 PM, Hill Head and Portsmouth Coastguard Rescue Teams, an inshore lifeboat from Calshot RNLI, and the HM Coastguard helicopter from Lee-on-Solent were sent to the scene, alongside police and ambulance service.”
The identity of the man has not been released, but his family has been informed. A file is being prepared for the coroner to determine the cause of death.
