A man in his 30s has been taken to the hospital following a stabbing near Forster Park in Lewisham.

Police Response

The Metropolitan Police were called to Longhill Road at approximately 6:30 pm on Friday, 4 April, after receiving reports of an altercation between two men. Officers attended the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service.

Upon arrival, they discovered a man with stab wounds. Paramedics treated him before transporting him to the hospital. His injuries have been assessed as non-life-changing and non-life-threatening.

Arrest Made

A 56-year-old man from Hackney was arrested at the scene on suspicion of wounding with intent. He is currently in police custody as investigations continue.

A spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police stated:
“Around 18:30hrs on Friday, 4 April, officers attended Longhill Road, Lewisham, following reports of an altercation between two men. They attended alongside the London Ambulance Service. Upon arrival, they found a man in his 30s suffering from stab wounds. He was taken to hospital, where his injuries were assessed as non-life-changing and non-life-threatening.”

The police confirmed that the suspect remains in custody as inquiries are ongoing.

Residents in the area expressed shock at the incident, noting that the area around Forster Park is typically peaceful. One local commented:
“It’s worrying to hear about violence so close to home. I hope the police presence will reassure the community.”
