Kent Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision near Ashford that resulted in the death of an 84-year-old man.
The incident occurred around 10:55 AM on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, on the A20 near Hothfield, when a black Nissan Qashqai travelling along Sandyhurst Lane crossed the A20 towards Godinton Lane. The Qashqai was then involved in a collision with a white Audi A3, which was travelling on the A20 towards Maidstone.
Tragic Outcome
The driver of the Qashqai, an 84-year-old man, and his passenger were both taken to hospital following the crash. Despite medical efforts, the driver sadly passed away the following day. The passenger’s condition has not been disclosed.
The driver of the Audi A3 was also taken to a local hospital but is reported to have sustained injuries that are not life-threatening.
Investigation Underway
The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) of Kent Police is leading the inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officers are now appealing to the public for any information or footage that could assist the investigation.
“We are urging anyone who may have witnessed this tragic incident, or who has relevant dashcam footage, to come forward,” said a spokesperson from the SCIU.
