Police Officer Injured in Hit-and-Run Incident

A West Yorkshire Police officer was injured after being struck by a car during an incident in Ovenden, near Halifax, on Thursday, November 7. The officer was attempting to stop a suspicious vehicle when the driver reversed into them before fleeing the scene.

Incident Overview

The incident occurred shortly before 12 pm when officers spotted a black Mercedes A180 travelling on Ovenden Way in the direction of Lee Mount. The vehicle was later stopped on Vegal Crescent, where the officer approached it on foot to conduct further inquiries. As the officer neared the car, the driver reversed, hitting the officer, and then drove off.

The injured officer was taken to the hospital for treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.

Suspect Vehicle and Arrests

The Mercedes A180 was later abandoned on Moorside Gardens after travelling via Nursery Lane, Keighley Road, and Shay Lane. Police located the vehicle around 12:15 pm.
