A teenage cyclist has been taken to hospital following a serious road traffic collision on Adelaide Avenue in Brockley on Thursday afternoon (April 17).
Emergency services were called to the junction of Montague Avenue and Chalsey Road shortly before 1pm, following reports of a collision involving a cyclist and a car.
Emergency Response

On Thursday, 17 April at 13:02hrs, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_1%% were called to Adelaide Avenue, Brockley, following reports of a collision between a cyclist and a car.
Officers attended the scene and assisted with road closures while the %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_2%% Ambulance Service treated the cyclist, who was then taken to hospital.
We await an update on their condition. Enquiries are ongoing.”
Ambulance Statement
The London %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_3%% Service also issued a statement:
"We were called at 12.56pm to reports of a road %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_4%% collision at the junction of Montague Avenue and Chalsey Road.
We sent ambulance crews, an incident %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_5%% officer and an advanced paramedic.
A teenager was treated at the scene and then taken to a major trauma centre in %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_6%%."
Road Closures and Bus Diversions
Adelaide Avenue was closed in both directions between Brockley Road and St Cyprian's Path for several hours, causing significant traffic disruption. Bus routes P4 and 122 were diverted:
- P4 buses diverted via Brockley Road, %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_7%% Road, Lewisham Way, and Loampit Hill.
- 122 buses rerouted via Stanstead Road, Catford Road, and Lewisham High %%UKNIP_ANCHOR_8%%.
Road Reopened
The road was reopened by early evening, and t the incident concluded at 6:21pm.
