A fire aboard a 35-foot motor cruiser carrying a man and a woman prompted a swift response by the Cowes RNLI lifeboat on Thursday.

Upon arrival at Trinity Landing, the cruiser was met by Island firemen and Needles coastguards who provided further assistance.

The Cowes RNLI lifeboat, which launched at 10:35 AM, returned to the station just over an hour later after ensuring the safety of those aboard the motor cruiser and securing the vessel.

The quick and efficient response by the Cowes RNLI lifeboat and the prompt action by the cruiser’s crew in extinguishing the fire prevented what could have been a more serious incident on the Solent.
