Last night (Sunday 4 August), multiple fire crews attended a significant fire at Walleys Quarry in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Firefighters worked tirelessly throughout the night to bring the blaze under control and minimize its impact on the local community. The fire has now been largely contained, and the fire presence has been scaled back. Two fire engines remain on the scene as damping down operations and dealing with hotspots continue.

Local residents are advised to take precautions, including keeping windows closed and avoiding the area where possible.

Crews will continue to attend the site over the next few days to ensure the fire is completely extinguished and that no further hotspots remain.
