Driver named after fatal collision in the A47

 

A driver who died in a serious collision near #Wansford has been named by police.

John Jenkins, 72, of Loughborough Road, Birstall, Leicester was driving a Mazda 3SE along the A47 when it was in collision with a Red Renualt Clio and a silver Fiat Fullbac.

Tragically, despite the efforts of Emergency personnal and passersby – Mr Jenkins died at the scene.

The passanger in the Mazda was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital where they remain in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the Renault was also taken to hospital with serious, but not life threatening injuries. The driver of the Fiat was not injured.

The road was closed in both directions for several hours after the collision at around 4pm on Tuesday.

The road later reopened to traffic, once the incident had been cleared.

Anyone who witnessed the vehicles driving prior to the collision, or who has dashcam footage of the collision, is asked to call 101, quoting incident 300 of 21 April. Alternatively, you can report online at www.cambs.police.uk/report.
