An easyJet flight to Tenerife, carrying up to 244 British holidaymakers, made an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport this morning after experiencing a hydraulic failure mid-air.
Flight U28033 was en route to Tenerife when it squawked the 7700 emergency code while flying over France at around 8:40 am. The Airbus A321neo reportedly encountered a hydraulic issue, prompting an immediate response from the flight crew.
A spokeswoman for Gatwick Airport confirmed the safe landing: “The aircraft has landed safely and there was no operational impact at the airport.”
EasyJet has been contacted for further comment.
Passengers on board experienced a tense journey but were relieved to land safely. The airline is expected to provide accommodations and alternative travel arrangements for those affected.
