Detectives have made a fourth arrest in connection with a fire that broke out in Canterbury city centre earlier this week.
Kent Police were called to assist firefighters at a property on Guildhall Street at around 8:45 p.m. on Monday, 2 December 2024. The blaze prompted road closures and the evacuation of some nearby residents while emergency services worked to extinguish the fire.
Latest Arrest
On Friday, 6 December, officers arrested a 16-year-old boy from Canterbury on suspicion of arson. He has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Ongoing Investigation
This arrest follows the earlier detention of a 12-year-old girl and a 15-year-old boy, both taken into custody on suspicion of arson on 4 and 3 December, respectively. Both have also been released on bail as enquiries continue.
Meanwhile, a 15-year-old boy from Ashford who was arrested on 4 December was released without charge.

Kent Police have thanked members of the public who have come forward with information to assist the investigation. Officers continue to appeal for any witnesses or individuals with relevant details to contact them as the case progresses.
