Gym Tragedy: Person Dies at PureGym in Weston-super-Mare Despite Rescue Efforts

A person has tragically died following a medical emergency at a PureGym branch in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset.

The incident occurred on the morning of Wednesday, May 14, when the individual collapsed while at the gym. Fellow members and staff immediately responded, using the gym’s emergency red help point to summon emergency services.

Despite their swift actions and the rapid arrival of South Western Ambulance Service crews, the person was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

Gym Temporarily Closed Following Incident

The gym was temporarily closed on the day of the incident but has since reopened.

A PureGym spokesperson said:

“We can confirm that very sadly a member died at PureGym Weston-Super-Mare yesterday morning.

Our gym team and other members promptly assisted the individual, using our emergency red help point to call for further assistance.

Paramedics arrived swiftly, but despite their best efforts the member sadly passed away.

We extend our sincere condolences to their family and friends.”

The South Western Ambulance Service has been approached for further comment.
