The M2 has been closed in both directions following a serious collision involving a car between Junction 5 (Sittingbourne/Stockbury Roundabout) and Junction 6 (Faversham).
The incident occurred earlier this evening (February 16, 2025), leading to significant disruption for motorists.

Current Road Closures & Traffic Updates
- M2 Westbound: Blocked between J6 (Faversham) and J5 (Sittingbourne). Trapped traffic is being released from the back of the queue.
- M2 Eastbound: Fully closed between J5 (Sittingbourne) and J6 (Faversham) to allow emergency services, including the Air Ambulance, to assist at the scene.
- Diversions are in place, with drivers advised to follow the Solid Circle Symbol:
- Exit at J5, take the A249 towards Maidstone.
- Join the M20 Eastbound at J7 and then leave at J8.
- Follow alternative routes towards Faversham.
Emergency Response
The Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, and Kent Fire & Rescue Service are attending the scene. The Air Ambulance has been deployed to assist with casualties.
The severity of injuries is currently unknown, and authorities have not yet confirmed how many people were involved.
