M2 Closed in Both Directions Following Serious Crash Near Faversham

The M2 has been closed in both directions following a serious collision involving a car between Junction 5 (Sittingbourne/Stockbury Roundabout) and Junction 6 (Faversham).

The incident occurred earlier this evening (February 16, 2025), leading to significant disruption for motorists.

Current Road Closures & Traffic Updates

  • M2 Westbound: Blocked between J6 (Faversham) and J5 (Sittingbourne). Trapped traffic is being released from the back of the queue.
  • M2 Eastbound: Fully closed between J5 (Sittingbourne) and J6 (Faversham) to allow emergency services, including the Air Ambulance, to assist at the scene.
  • Diversions are in place, with drivers advised to follow the Solid Circle Symbol:
    • Exit at J5, take the A249 towards Maidstone.
    • Join the M20 Eastbound at J7 and then leave at J8.
    • Follow alternative routes towards Faversham.

Emergency Response

The Kent Police, South East Coast Ambulance Service, and Kent Fire & Rescue Service are attending the scene. The Air Ambulance has been deployed to assist with casualties.
