Man dies in fatal flat fire in Mitcham
Two fire engines and around ten firefighters were called to a flat fire on Gale Close in Mitcham. Part of the ground floor flat was damaged by fire. Firefighters rescued a man from the flat. He was taken to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews where he sadly died. The Brigade was called at just before 9pm and the fire was under control by 10pm. Fire crews from Mitcham and Wimbledon fire stations were at the scene. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
