Man Hospitalised After Collision with Unmarked Police Car in Liverpool

A man has been hospitalised after his Ford C-Max Zetec was involved in a serious crash with an unmarked police vehicle responding to an emergency call in Liverpool.

? Time: Just before 9:10 AM, Sunday, March 2, 2025
? Location: Sefton Street at the junction of Hill Street
? Vehicles Involved:
Unmarked police Skoda Kodiaq (on blue lights and sirens)
Ford C-Max Zetec (previously misidentified as a Ford Focus Zetec)

Injuries & Emergency Response

? The driver of the Ford C-Max was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.
?‍♂️ The police driver was checked over but not seriously injured.
? A police dog inside the Skoda Kodiaq was examined by a vet and was unhurt.

A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson confirmed they received a call at 9:09 AM and dispatched:
? Two ambulances
? A rapid response vehicle
? An air ambulance

Eyewitness Accounts

? A witness at the scene described the crash as “massive,” saying:
“I saw lots of police turn up about 20 minutes ago. Then the helicopter landed.”

Another witness added:
“I saw a black Skoda with its lights on, in the middle of the road with the grey Ford.”

Road Closures & Traffic Impact

? Sefton Street remains closed from Brunswick Way (Brunswick roundabout) to Parliament Street (A562) for accident investigation work.
