Man Injured following shooting in Lewisham

Police are appealing for information after a man was shot in Lewisham. At 1826hrs on Sunday, 6 May, Police were flagged down by a member of the public in New Cross Road where a 22-year-old man was suffering from gunshot wounds. The injured male was taken by London Ambulance Service to a central London hospital where his condition is not life-threatening. A crime scene and road closures remain in place at this time. At this early stage, it is believed that two male suspects riding one moped shot the victim, a pedestrian, at Besson Street, SE14. Officers retain an open mind as to any motive. There has been no arrest and enquiries continue. Anyone who witnessed this incident or has information concerning the suspects should call Trident officers by dialling 101 quoting reference 5872 /6may.
