Man Jailed For Sexual Assaults On Teenagers In Liverpool Newsagents

Sanad Ahmed, a 28-year-old resident of Asbridge Street, Liverpool, has been sentenced to seven years in prison yesterday at Liverpool Crown Court for committing sex offences. Ahmed, who worked at Richmond News on Richmond St, assaulted two teenage girls during the afternoon of Saturday, May 15, 2021.

The victims, assaulted by Ahmed while inside the newsagents, were later discovered by a group of teenagers who promptly reported the incident to the police. Ahmed was arrested on the same day but denied all charges. Today, a jury found him guilty of multiple offences, including rape (oral) and assault by penetration.

In addition to the seven-year prison term, Ahmed is mandated to remain on the sex offenders register for life and is subject to a 10-year restraining order to protect the victims. Detective Chief Inspector Paul Parry, speaking after the sentencing, expressed gratitude to witnesses who assisted the victims and testified in court.

“For years, Ahmed has denied sexually assaulting his victims, putting them through the distress of reliving the events in court. No one should endure such horrifying behavior in our community, and we welcome the sentence given by the court,” said Detective Chief Inspector Paul Parry.

He further extended appreciation to witnesses for their bravery and hoped the verdict would provide closure, allowing the victims to move forward with their lives without fear of harm from Ahmed.

Merseyside Police reaffirmed their commitment to protecting children from sexual abuse, urging anyone who has suffered a sexual offence to come forward and seek support, emphasising the sensitivity and compassion offered by specially trained officers.
