Pedestrian Hit by Double-Decker in Westminster Chaos

Firefighters and paramedics rushed to Westminster’s St James’ area yesterday at around 10.30am after a serious crash involving a double-decker bus and a pedestrian.

Emergency Services Swarm the Scene

A cordon was set up around the Guards Crimean War Memorial at the busy junction of Waterloo Place and Pall Mall. Inside the closed-off area, a 159 bus was trapped amid a heavy emergency services presence.

London’s Air Ambulance also joined the frantic response as firefighters swiftly rescued the injured pedestrian.

Real-Time Rescue Effort Detailed

  • London Fire Brigade confirmed they received three calls starting at 10.31am.
  • Two fire engines plus a Fire Rescue Unit from Lambeth and Euston stations were dispatched.
  • Firefighters pulled the pedestrian clear of the crash and handed him over to paramedics.

A London Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “We sent ambulance crews, a cycle paramedic, a fast response car, and an incident response officer. We also dispatched London’s Air Ambulance. The patient was treated at the scene and taken by road to a major trauma centre.”

The man’s condition remains unknown. Police investigations continue into the crash which caused major traffic disruption in the heart of the capital.
