Mosque Issues Statement After Man Stabbed to Death Outside Prayer Centre
A west London mosque has expressed deep sorrow and issued a public statement after a 22-year-old man was fatally stabbed near its premises on Hanworth Road, Hounslow.
The Hounslow Muslim Centre confirmed it is not linked to the incident, which occurred around 2.20pm on Sunday, 22 June, during a busy afternoon in the town centre. Emergency services responded to reports of a serious assault near the centre. The victim, later identified locally as Dara Sayed Barham, tragically died after being taken to hospital with stab wounds.
The Centre was advised to close temporarily by police as a crime scene was established. Forensic officers have been on site and bus routes remain on diversion.

Metropolitan Police say there is currently no evidence linking the attack to the mosque, and confirmed that those involved did not enter the building. Detectives from the Met’s Specialist Crime Command are leading the investigation.

Appeal for Information
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley said:
“This incident happened in a busy part of Hounslow during the middle of the afternoon. It’s vital we hear from anyone who was in the area and witnessed the attack, or may have dashcam footage.”

Community Message from Hounslow Muslim Centre
The Centre also warned against online misinformation and urged the public to avoid speculation. “We ask the media and community members to refrain from spreading rumours or false information. Please report any Islamophobic abuse to the police or appropriate organisations.”
They added:
“Violence has no place in our community. The Hounslow Muslim Centre remains committed to working with all partners to help build a safer society for everyone.”
The Centre also asked for prayers for the victim and his family and confirmed they will update the public when reopening.
