Armed Police Swarm Hackney After Family Targeted in Drive-by Shooting

The Metropolitan Police have released details of a serious incident that occurred this evening in the Dalston Kingsland area.

Officers, including specialist firearms officers, and the London Ambulance Service responded to reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, three adults and a child were found with gunshot injuries. All victims were transported to an east London hospital.

The child remains in a serious condition, and police are awaiting further updates on the conditions of the other victims. Officers are currently working to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.

No arrests have been made at this time.

Footage shared on social media shows a significant police and ambulance presence at the scene. Dalston Kingsland station was shut down due to a “police investigation.” Multiple witnesses have suggested that the police presence was in response to a drive-by shooting.

Reports indicate that a motorcyclist was seen aiming and firing a gun towards Evin Restaurant. One anonymous diner recounted his experience, describing how he used his coat to stem the bleeding of a leg wound.

“There was a big group having dinner in the rear,” he said. “I couldn’t get my usual table, so I got one close to the front window. The big group paid up and left, and shortly afterward, that’s when the loud bangs – which were obviously gunshots – happened.”

It remains unclear if any additional injuries were sustained as a result of the incident.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Matt Ward commented, “We know Londoners will be shocked by what has taken place tonight. Our thoughts go to all those affected. Fast-moving enquiries are underway, and we will update as soon as we can. If anyone has any information, please contact us.”

Anyone with information that can assist the police should call 101 or post @MetCC referencing CAD 8082/29May. To remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
