Two Were Hospitalised After A Serious Collision On A5 Shenstone, Lichfield

The first incident happened at around 1835hrs on Sunday evening, on the westbound carriageway of the #M54 near Codsall.

Emergency crews attended and found a car had collided with a HGV, before overturning- coming to rest on the carriageway.

A male from the vehicle was found to have sustained serious injuries, which were sadly incompatible with life – and he was confirmed deceased a short time later.

The motorway was closed for more than eight hours, whilst the collision investigation and vehicle recovery uk/tag/work" title="work" data-wpil-keyword-link="linked" data-wpil-monitor-id="37438">work were completed.

SERIOUS-INJURY COLLISION, A5 WEEFORD

The second incident happened at around 0630am this morning (7/11) – on the A5, between Wall Island and Weeford.

It involved two HGVs and a car. Police, Fire, ambulance and advanced trauma doctors attended the scene and found two people with serious injuries.

The first, a male lorry driver was freed by fire crews before being placed in the care of the waiting medical teams. He had sustained life-changing injuries and was taken to hospital for further treatment.

The second patient, believed to be the car driver, had also sustained life-threatening injuries, he too was stabilised at the scene before being conveyed to a nearby trauma centre – with doctors travelling with him to continue the treatment enroute.

The A5 was closed for around 6 hours, whilst investigation work was carried out.

Witnesses to either incident are urged to contact Staffordshire Police on 101.
