One Person Hospitalised After Bus Crash Outside St Paul’s Underground Station

A person has been taken to hospital following a bus crash in central London this afternoon, just outside St Paul’s Underground station on Cheapside.

Emergency services were called to the scene shortly after 2:30pm on Monday (March 24), following reports of a road traffic collision involving a bus in the busy City of London area.

Crash Scene and Emergency Response

Footage shared on social media shows the front of the bus crumpled against a flower bed outside the Co-op store, with bystanders gathered around the scene. The collision caused a temporary road closure as emergency responders worked quickly to assess and treat injuries.

A spokesperson for the London Ambulance Service said:

“We were called at 2:24pm today to reports of a road traffic collision on Cheapside.
We sent multiple resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, an incident response officer, a cycle paramedic and a paramedic in a fast response car.
Our first paramedics arrived in approximately four minutes. We treated three people. One patient was taken to hospital and the other two were discharged at the scene.”

Police Statement and Road Closure

Chief Inspector James Minney of the City of London Police confirmed officers were on site shortly after the incident.

“City of London Police officers were at the scene of a road traffic collision on 24 March 2025 at around 2:26pm on Cheapside.
Three people were treated at the scene by London Ambulance Service; one person was taken to hospital.
The road heading northbound reopened at 3:30pm. Investigations are ongoing.”

Traffic Disruption

The AA traffic monitoring service reported that Cheapside was temporarily closed around 3pm following the crash, but the route was reopened by 3:30pm, easing congestion in the area.

Ongoing Investigation

The cause of the crash remains under investigation, and it is not yet known whether any mechanical failure or human error was involved.

Authorities have urged witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward to assist with inquiries.

Further updates will be issued as investigations continue.
