A person has died following a serious road traffic collision on West India Dock Road in East London late on Tuesday night (22 July).

Emergency services were called at 11:03pm to reports of a collision. London Ambulance Service crews, paramedics in fast response vehicles, and a trauma team from London’s Air Ambulance all rushed to the scene.

Despite their swift arrival and efforts, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.


Ambulance Service Statement

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said:

“We were called at 11.03pm yesterday (22 July) to reports of a road traffic collision in West India Dock Road, E14.
We sent ambulance crews, paramedics in fast response cars, and an incident response officer.
A trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance also attended.
The first paramedic arrived in around three minutes.
Despite the best efforts of our team, the patient sadly died at the scene.”


Police Response and Investigation

Metropolitan Police officers also attended and cordoned off the area while they dealt with the incident. The cordon has since been lifted.

The identity of the deceased has not been released and it is currently unclear whether any arrests have been made. The Metropolitan Police has been contacted for further details.


Location and Impact

West India Dock Road, located near Canary Wharf and Westferry DLR Station, is a busy route through the Docklands area and was temporarily closed overnight during emergency response operations.

The road has since reopened to traffic.
