Police Launch Attempted Murder Probe as Man is Airlifted after Stabbing in Shanklin

A man has been left with life threatening injuries after an incident in Shanklin last night (Saturday), Isle of Wight after is it is understood that he was stabbed. A Hampshire Police spokesperson said: “officers were called shortly before 8pm on Saturday July 8 by Isle of Wight ambulance service, after a member of the public reported a man was seriously injured at the Spring Gardens junction with St Paul’s Avenue in Shanklin on the Isle of Wight. The man was subsequently treated for a puncture wound to his chest and has been airlifted to Southampton General Hospital, where his condition is described as life threatening, but stable. “Officers are now carrying out enquiries in the area to establish how the man was injured.” It is further understood that a man has been arrested by Police and is being questioned by detectives at Newport Police Station. Officers and Medic had to hold sheets up as members of the public’s attempted to take pictures of the man being worked on by the air ambulance.
