A derelict building in Ashford, formerly housing the Liquied and Envy nightclub, has been set ablaze for the second time in days, prompting a joint arson investigation by Kent Police and Kent Fire and Rescue Service.

The fire broke out late Friday night at the building on East Hill, with emergency services responding at 12:47 AM on Saturday, December 28, 2024.

Major Emergency Response
Ten fire engines, along with a height vehicle, bulk water carrier, and the technical rescue unit, were deployed to the scene to combat the flames. Crews are using main jets to extinguish the fire, which has caused significant smoke across the town center and surrounding areas.

Residents around Mace Lane and the Ashford town center have been advised to keep their windows and doors closed to avoid inhaling the smoke.
Road Closures and Safety Measures
Mace Lane has been closed in both directions while emergency teams work to contain the blaze. Authorities are urging motorists to avoid the area and follow diversion signs.

Arson Investigation Launched
This marks the second fire at the former nightclub in recent days, intensifying suspicions of arson. Kent Police and fire investigators are treating the incidents as deliberate and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Community Concerns
The derelict building has been a point of contention in the community, with safety concerns raised following the first fire earlier this week. The repeated targeting of the site has heightened fears among residents and business owners in the area.
