Police Release Image of Suspect Following Brutal Assault

British Transport Police (BTP) have released a CCTV image of a man they want to identify following a violent incident at Bank Underground station. The attack occurred on January 18, 2025, around 12:20 pm.

The incident began when the victim stepped onto the escalator leading to the Cannon Street exit. An unidentified man allegedly cut him off, sparking an argument. Witnesses reported that the confrontation quickly escalated, with the suspect punching the victim in the face before throwing him down the escalator.

To make matters worse, the attacker then followed the victim down the escalator and continued to kick him multiple times.

Police Appeal for Information

Investigators are urging the public to help identify the man shown in the CCTV image. They believe he may have crucial information that could assist with the ongoing investigation.

A BTP spokesperson stated:

Public Reaction

Commuters and members of the public expressed their shock at the violent nature of the attack. One commuter, Jessica Morley, commented:

“It’s terrifying to think that something like this could happen in broad daylight at such a busy station. I hope the victim is okay.”

Another witness, Tom Davies, said:

“Bank Underground is usually pretty safe, but this is just shocking. I hope they catch the guy soon.”

Safety Advice from BTP

Following the incident, BTP has advised commuters to:

  • Be vigilant when using busy stations.

  • Report any suspicious behaviour immediately.

  • Seek assistance from station staff or police if threatened.

This incident highlights the importance of public awareness and safety within transport hubs, particularly during peak travel times.

Ongoing Investigation

The victim’s injuries have not been disclosed, but police confirmed that medical assistance was provided at the scene. The investigation remains active as officers continue to examine CCTV footage and gather witness statements.
