In a significant development, a Samsung mobile phone has been located and handed over to the police as part of the ongoing murder investigation into the death of Timothy Macdonald.
Last week, detectives investigating the case appealed to the public for assistance in locating the Samsung mobile phone, believing it could provide crucial information for the investigation.
On Saturday, a member of the public handed in a mobile phone to the police at Melton police station. After conducting inquiries, it has been determined that this is the phone that authorities were searching for.
Detective Inspector David Greenhalgh, the Senior Investigating Officer from the East Midlands Special Operations Unit (EMSOU), expressed gratitude to everyone who shared the appeal and especially to the individual who turned in the phone. The cooperation and response from the public are highly appreciated and will greatly aid the ongoing efforts to provide answers for Mr. Macdonald’s family.
The body of 46-year-old Timothy Macdonald was discovered in a field off Highgate Lane in Plungar on Tuesday, November 7 at 15.30 GMT. A post mortem examination revealed that Mr. Macdonald died from a gunshot wound, pending further tests. The investigation into his murder remains active.
The family of Mr. Macdonald has released a statement paying tribute to him,
They said: “We are heartbroken and devastated.
