As a result of this closure, traffic is being diverted through alternative routes, and motorists are advised to follow these diversion signs closely. For those heading southbound, the recommended diversion is marked by the solid square symbol on local road signs. Motorists should exit the A1M at junction 52 and take the second exit at the roundabout onto the A6055, towards Catterick Village and Marne Barracks. After approximately 6 miles on the A6055, they should continue through the Lemming Interchange, taking the second exit at the next roundabout, and then re-joining the A1M southbound at junction 51.
For northbound road users, the diversion is indicated by the hollow triangle symbol on local road signs. Drivers should exit the A1M at junction 50, take the second exit off the roundabout onto the A6055, and continue on this route until they can re-join the A1M at junction 51.
