The M1 in Bedfordshire is currently closed northbound between Junction 13 (Brogborough) and Junction 14 (Milton Keynes) due to a severe collision involving a lorry and a car.
Thames Valley Police, Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, South Central Ambulance Service, and National Highways Traffic Officers responded to a multi-vehicle collision on the M1 northbound around 22:50 local time. The closure has been put in place to allow emergency services to work at the scene, with National Highways Traffic Officers assisting in traffic management.
As of 23:45, it was confirmed that all traffic caught within the closure has been released slowly past the accident scene.
Diversion Route: Road users are advised to follow the hollow triangle diversion symbol on road signs:
- Exit the M1 at Junction 13 (M1, J13) onto the A421 northwest.
- Continue along the A421 and at the Kingston Roundabout, take the third exit onto the A421 Standing Way.
- At the A421/A4146 Brinklow Roundabout, take the third exit onto the A4146 Tongwell Street.
- Continue north on A4146 Tongwell Street to the A4146 Fox Milne Roundabout.
- Take the third exit onto the A4146 Childs Way.
- Follow A4146 Childs Way to the A509/A5130/A4146 Northfield Roundabout.
- Take the second exit onto the A509.
- Rejoin the M1 at Junction 14.
Motorists travelling through the affected area are advised to allow for extra journey time. It is recommended to plan alternative routes or consider delaying travel plans if possible.
