Commuters faced disruption this lunch after smoke was reported on the tracks at Finchley Central Underground Station, leading to delays on the Northern Line.
A spokesperson for TfL said:
“We were alerted to smoke on the track at Finchley Central Underground Station earlier this afternoon. Services on the Northern Line were held temporarily while the issue was investigated. Safety is always our top priority, and we thank passengers for their patience.”
No injuries have been reported, and the cause of the smoke is currently under investigation. Services resumed with delays, and passengers are advised to check live travel updates before continuing their journeys.
TfL has recommended alternative routes for those affected, and additional staff were deployed at Finchley Central to assist travellers.
