Southeastern Railway has announced a series of train cancellations and replacements for the upcoming Remembrance Day weekend, due to planned engineering works on various lines. This announcement comes as a significant number of people are expected to travel for Remembrance Day commemorations.
Engineering Works Affecting Services:
The engineering works are scheduled for both Saturday, November 10, and Sunday, November 11. These works will result in the closure of some lines and the replacement of certain train services with buses.
Saturday, November 10 – Train Cancellations and Diversions:
- Sole Street Line: Services between London Victoria and Ramsgate via Chatham will be limited to running between London Victoria and Herne Bay.
- High Speed via Gravesend: Trains from London St Pancras International to Ramsgate via Faversham will operate only between London St Pancras International and Herne Bay.
- High Speed via Ashford International: Services between London St Pancras International and Margate via Canterbury West will run only between London St Pancras International and Ramsgate.
Sunday, November 11 – Train Cancellations and Diversions:
- Sole Street Line: Trains will operate between London Victoria and Faversham, instead of the usual route to Ramsgate via Chatham.
- High Speed via Gravesend: Services will be restricted to between London St Pancras International and Faversham.
- High Speed via Ashford International: Trains will run only between London St Pancras International and Ramsgate.
Rail Replacement Buses:
To accommodate passengers affected by these changes, Southeastern Railway will be providing rail replacement bus services:
- Saturday, November 10:
- Buses running between Herne Bay and Ramsgate, calling at all stations.
- Buses between Herne Bay and Ramsgate, stopping at Birchington-on-Sea, Margate, and Broadstairs.
- Services from Margate to Ramsgate, calling only at Broadstairs.
- Sunday, November 11:
- Buses from Faversham to Margate, calling at all stations.
- Buses between Faversham and Margate, stopping only at Whitstable, Herne Bay, and Birchington-on-Sea.
- Services from Margate to Ramsgate, calling at all stations.
- Buses from Margate to Ramsgate, stopping only at Broadstairs.
