Dramatic Duckling Rescue on the M27

Firefighters sprang into action on the M27 after two tiny ducklings took a tumble down a drain in the motorway’s central reservation. The heart-stopping rescue caused a brief lane closure but ended in a happy reunion.

Fire Crew “Quack-ly” to the Rescue

The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service revealed that a crew from Cosham arrived at the scene just after 11am. They accessed the drain between junctions nine and ten on the westbound carriageway. Road traffic was briefly halted as firefighters worked swiftly to reach the stranded ducklings.

Fluffy Duo Reunited with Mum

The brave firefighters carefully lifted the ducklings to safety. They handed them over to an RSPCA officer, who reunited the fluffy pair with their mother waiting safely on the hard shoulder. The fire crew left the scene around midday, proud of their “wing-credible” effort.
