Murder Investigation Launched After Fatal Assault in Boughton

A suspect has been charged with murder following the tragic death of a man in Boughton-under-Blean, near Faversham.

The incident unfolded on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, when authorities responded to reports of a disturbance in The Street, Boughton-under-Blean, around 10:39 pm. Upon arrival, officers, alongside the South East Coast Ambulance Service, discovered a man in his 30s with a stab wound. Despite efforts to save him, the victim succumbed to his injuries near the scene.

Suspect Charged in Boughton Murder Investigation

In response to the incident, the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate launched a murder investigation. Subsequently, on Thursday, March 14, a man voluntarily presented himself at Canterbury police station and was promptly arrested.

Today, Saturday, March 16, the Crown Prosecution Service authorized charges of murder and possession of a knife in a public place against William Cosier, aged 33, of Well Lane, Canterbury. Mr. Cosier has been remanded in custody and is scheduled to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court later today.

Suspect Charged in Boughton Murder Investigation

Additionally, three other men, aged between 37 and 42, who were arrested in connection with the incident, have been granted bail pending further investigation. Meanwhile, two men, aged 31 and 43, who were also detained, have been released without charge.

Kent Police detectives are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or possesses relevant information, CCTV footage, or dashcam recordings from the area around the time of the incident to come forward.
