Update on Tragic Deaths of Three Children in Sea Mills

In a heartbreaking development, Chief Inspector Vicks Hayward-Melen has provided an update on the ongoing investigation into the deaths of three young children in Blaise Walk, Sea Mills, on Sunday, February 18.

In his statement, Chief Inspector Hayward-Melen confirmed the identities of the deceased children as seven-year-old Fares Bash, three-year-old Joury Bash, and nine-month-old Mohammed Bash, all siblings.

He expressed profound sadness at the loss of these young lives and extended condolences to their family, emphasizing the devastating impact of the tragedy. Specialist liaison officers are offering support to the bereaved family during this challenging time.

Forensic post-mortem examinations have revealed that the cause of death for each child was knife injuries. A 42-year-old woman, arrested on suspicion of their murder, remains hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries and is under police custody.

The investigation, led by the Major Crime Investigation Team, is progressing rapidly, with comprehensive inquiries underway to ascertain the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.

Chief Inspector Hayward-Melen expressed gratitude to the local community for their patience and cooperation during the investigative process. He acknowledged the outpouring of care and support from residents, schools, and faith leaders, highlighting the unity and compassion demonstrated in the face of adversity.

To provide ongoing reassurance and support, neighbourhood officers will be present at a vigil and a mobile police station has been set up in The Square, Sea Mills, for residents to voice their concerns.
