A new era of greener, cleaner travel is dawning in North Somerset as the first wave of electric double-decker buses has quietly started arriving in Weston-super-Mare this week — although keeping them under wraps has proven pretty difficult.
A transport spokesperson teased the news on Thursday, saying:

“It’s pretty difficult keeping the arrival of electric double-decker buses under wraps… so here’s a teaser. Our new electric era in Weston-super-Mare has started to arrive this week. There’s lots for us to do before 24 of them hit the streets, but keep your eyes peeled — they’ll be out on the road very soon!”

The move is part of a wider commitment to reduce carbon emissions, improve air quality, and modernise local transport services. The buses are expected to cut noise pollution, reduce maintenance costs, and significantly lower the environmental impact compared to their diesel-powered predecessors.

Local passengers can expect enhanced comfort, advanced accessibility features, and the satisfaction of knowing their journeys are contributing to a more sustainable future for North Somerset.
