Woman Dies After Early Morning Flat Fire in Hornsey — Cause Under Investigation

A woman has sadly died following a serious fire at a flat on Uplands Road, Hornsey in the early hours of this morning.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) confirmed they were called to the scene at 4:30am on Friday, where part of a first-floor flat was found to be alight. Four fire engines and approximately 25 firefighters from Hornsey, Holloway, and Tottenham fire stations attended.

The fire was brought under control by 05:38am, but not before significant damage was caused to the property.

A woman was rescued from the flat and rushed to hospital by London Ambulance Service crews, but despite efforts from medical teams, she sadly died later in hospital.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the London Fire Brigade’s Fire Investigation Team, in collaboration with the Metropolitan Police.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said:

“This is a tragic incident and our thoughts are with the family and friends of the woman who has lost her life. We are working alongside the police to determine the cause of the fire.”

Residents in the area have been urged to remain cautious and ensure their homes are fitted with working smoke alarms.
