Overview

A woman has been taken to hospital following a flat fire in the early hours of this morning on Uplands Road, Hornsey, in the London Borough of Haringey.

The London Fire Brigade (LFB) was called to the scene at 4:30am, dispatching four fire engines and approximately 25 firefighters from Hornsey, Holloway and Tottenham stations.

Fire Contained to First Floor

Fire crews reported that part of a first-floor flat was damaged by the fire. The blaze was brought under control by 5:38am, just over an hour after the first 999 call.

Emergency medical teams from the London Ambulance Service treated one woman at the scene before she was transported to hospital. Her condition is currently unknown.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the fire is under joint investigation by the London Fire Brigade and the Metropolitan Police Service. No arrests have been made, and officers remain at the scene as enquiries continue.

An LFB spokesperson said:

“Crews acted quickly to stop the fire from spreading beyond the first-floor flat. As always, we urge residents to ensure they have working smoke alarms fitted and test them regularly.”

Appeal for Witnesses

Anyone who may have seen or heard anything in the area around the time of the fire is asked to contact the Metropolitan Police via 101, quoting the incident reference. Alternatively, information can be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
