A local teenager is battling for his life in intensive care following a devastating single-vehicle crash in rural Wexford.
The 18-year-old, a Leaving Certificate student, was discovered critically injured in his car at Garryvadden Upper, Blackwater at around 6:00am on Sunday morning (April 27). Emergency services responded swiftly and found the young man as the sole occupant of the vehicle.
He was initially treated at the scene for a serious head injury before being rushed to a nearby hospital. Due to the severity of his injuries, he was later transferred to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he remains in intensive care fighting for his life.

The local community of Blackwater has been left deeply shaken by the tragic incident. Friends, family, and neighbours are rallying around the teenager’s loved ones during this difficult time, with many offering prayers and support for his recovery.
A Gardaí spokesperson confirmed that investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing:
“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time of the incident, to contact Enniscorthy Garda Station.“
